Tobacco Cessation Classes
When quitting tobacco use it is necessary to look at the addiction to nicotine, the habit of using and the perceptions associated with the individual's tobacco use. Cessation classes offered here address all those aspects and have a very high success rate. Cessation classes are the "gold standard" of approaches with the highest evidence based success. That means other methods may work for some but are not scientifically proven to work for the majority.

All of the tobacco cessation classes listed use the format of the University of Pittsburgh and include seven one-hour classes over six weeks. Attendees do not quit using tobacco until the third week of classes because the first two help you to explore the habit and perceptions of tobacco use. This information helps you develop a plan for a successful and final quit. A registered nurse, who has specialized training in cessation, teaches all classes. Class days and times will be determined by the needs expressed by interested callers to the program. Attendance at all class sessions is necessary to give you the best opportunity for success. Pre-registration is necessary for all locations. Please call the number listed below for specific classes and registration information. Each class is limited to ten participants.
