Training and Education
The Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine is a nationally recognized leader in development and training of educational outreach programs related to prevention of ergonomic injury and the health effects of water pollution.
With initial developmental support from OSHA’s Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, COEM developed a diverse array of training modules designed to assist employers in their efforts to prevent ergonomic injury. In addition, we have trained nearly 10,000 health care executives, managers and workers over the past four years in the recognition and prevention of ergonomic injury in the workplace. Our training modules and a diverse array of additional support information are available at: http://www.ergonomicsinhealthcare.org/. Contamination of water reserves by either chemical agents or infectious agents may affect the health of millions of residents in the United States. In addition, healthcare providers are likely to be the first to observe unusual illness patterns resulting from intentional contamination of water. In response to these serious concerns, COEM has produced a new medical website to assist health care providers and public health personnel recognize and manage waterborne disease and the health effects of water pollution resulting from either natural or intentional contamination of water. “Recognizing Waterborne Disease and Health Effects of Water Pollution: A Physician On-Line Reference Guide” and “Physician Preparedness for Acts of Water Terrorism” are available at: http://www.waterhealthconnection.org/. |
