The Child Life Program includes:

• A Child Life specialist and Child Life assistant that will help child and family understand and cope with hospitalization.
• A pediatric playroom which is the most popular spot on the unit! It is open at all times and is stocked with numerous toys and games for children of all ages.
• Children and their guests are invited for playtime. Supervised playtime is offered Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. All other times are scheduled by request and are based on availability. We request that during unsupervised hours all children are accompanied by an adult when in the halls or the playroom.
• A teen lounge offering art materials, board games and puzzles.
• Two parent lounges.
• TV/VCR carts with some of the most popular and current videos and video game machines are available to all pediatric patients.
• Art materials and supplies are available to encourage your child’s innate creativity and to use as an outlet for a healthy expression
  of emotions and feelings.
• A pre-surgical program and tour is provided to answer any questions and familiarize the child with the hospital and staff. Our Child Life assistant then provides surgical support and accompaniment to the operating room when the child is admitted to the hospital.
