Security For You and Your Baby
The staff at Arnot Ogden Medical Center is dedicated to keeping all mothers and babies healthy and safe while in the hospital. We have strict security procedures in place. Such procedures include the following:

  • Immediately after delivery, two identification bands are placed on the baby. Mom and her partner are also given an identification band with the same ID number as the baby's.
  • A baby is always identified with his or her ID number, and mom is always asked for that number before her baby is given back to her.
  • The Medical Center has a security system in place designed to keep mom and baby safe. Newborns have tags placed on their ankles after birth that sound an alarm if they are taken out of the maternity center or tampered with.
  • The nurse's station is located in the center of the unit so the nurses can see everything that happens on the floor.
  • Parents play a crucial role in keeping babies safe. Parents should talk with a nurse about the safety procedures in our Maternity Center.

A patient should always follow these guidelines:

  • Never leave the baby unattended, even if it's just to use the restroom or take a short nap.
  • Never give the infant to anyone without proper Maternity Center identification.
  • If someone wishes to take the baby from the room, always ask specific questions, such as the person's identity and how long the baby will be gone. Use the nurse call button if questions arise.
  • Question unfamiliar people who enter the room or inquire about the baby, even if they are in hospital attire.
