Postpartum Care and Services
After delivery and recovery in the birthing suite, the mother and baby will move to the new Maternity Unit in the Schweizer Pavilion. The Maternity Unit offers all private rooms with a pleasant decor and a comfortable day bed that allows the father or a family member to spend the night with mother and baby.
Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fathers are not considered visitors, and are welcome at anytime. Siblings may visit mom and their new brother or sister during regular visiting hours, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Talk with your insurance company about the length of stay before arriving at the hospital. An average vaginal birth usually involves a two-day hospital stay. A cesarean section birth averages about three to four days .
This booklet "Caring for Your Baby" is helpful in a mother's transition home with the new baby.
